Meet Shirley McAdon
Shirley originally became involved with the Dallas County Foundation when she was a grant applicant applying for grant funds for her various community-oriented projects. Through several grant cycles, Shirley got to know the mission of the Dallas County Foundation and loved that it worked with all the quadrants of Dallas County. Along the way, she (and her husband, Kent) began to understand that the Dallas County Foundation received funding not only from the gaming revenues of the state but also from private donations.
That is when they moved from grant applicant to proud supporter of the Dallas County Foundation. As a family, the McAdons passionately believe in the good of public service and community involvement. They know that when they donate to the Dallas County Foundation, their dollars also benefit the Dallas County community as a whole. And as active members of the community, you can bet they still work with their respective organizations each year to apply for grant funds.
“The word is out that the Dallas County Foundation is very active in trying to fund projects - but now there is more competition than ever for grant applicants. Money doesn’t just come from the gaming revenues… other community-minded people need to support the foundation as well. Support comes from donations of all sizes… $50-$500… every cent matters.”
